Scanner Power Tools (SPT) Mega-tweaks for office geeks
Juice up your scanner or multifunctional device’s feature set with multiple image-processing powers — and then let it loose! (It’ll know exactly what to do.)
Read complete specificationsWhether your input device of choice is a simple desktop scanner, one of the many new networkable models, or a multifunctional device, Scanner Power Tools may soon become one of the key components in your organization’s quest for Total Office Integration. The core of the Drivve | Image suite, SPT is the command center that links input devices to your network (and the world) and enables you to automate an unlimited number of tasks — all at the touch of a button.
Use this programmable set of tools to optimize scan quality and and create customized scanning workflows in seconds for each type of document. When used together with the other Drivve | Image modules, SPT leverages virtually all of your existing data to make tasks a total no-brainer.
Border Crop
Eliminate any unwanted borders before sharing and storing your scanned documents.
De-skew
Use the de-skew function to straighten the image of an imperfectly scanned document.
Name your document
With the intelligent Filename Generation feature, you can get your company info perfectly organized for every future search and retrieval. Define your file-naming convention in advance, including using variables. Tap automated names when filing your scanned docs or manually type in values at the display (or use a combination of both). Use any input field that the user can fill out at the scanner or multifunctional device display as part of the file name (for example, «department-company-document #-date & time.pdf»).
Image Cleaning
Get your scans to come out cleaner and more readable than ever by removing blobs and punch-hole marks. Delete undesired lines from any scanned image, such as those that often appear on fax documents.
User authentication
Enhance security with intelligent user authentication, which is integrated in MS Active Directory.
Blank-page deletion
Speed up and streamline your scanning process (and save money) by eliminating empty pages. Default your scans to duplex mode (two-sided), even for single-sided documents, and blank sides will be deleted from the job.
Bates Stamping
Annotate and paginate documents using predefined variables, generic text and image stamping, and enter or choose a Bates profile at the scanner or multifunctional device control panel. You can stamp any kind of text or image on your scanned document, such as a date, current-user information (requires log in), and even a signature image of the current user that resides in his/her home directory.
Search function for network folders
Search for folders by initial letter or letter combination (such as “in” for “invoices” or “Jan” for “January”). This facilitates scanning documents directly to a network folder, particularly if there are hundreds of folders available.
Browse to folder
Open your folder tree, including root folder and subdirectories, right at the scanner or multifunctional device display (admin can limit access to secure directory lists).
Metadata
Use your organization’s existing data as metadata to index incoming documents or to intelligently generate file and folder names. This makes not only quick retrieval but true organization a reality. Mastery of this metadata information defines the difference between entirely unstructured and perfectly structured data, the difference between losing or using your most precious asset.
Print documents
If your scanning device has print capability, use the Browse to Print feature to browse your entire network from the display panel and immediately print out documents in most popular formats. And use the Printback feature to process your scanned documents with whatever SPT functions are needed and print them out simultaneously.
Separate documents
Separate your documents with a blank page or with a 1- or 2- dimensional bar code and you’ll get separate files at the computer.

Barcode Module (for SPT) Get your office engine humming
Pushing the envelope — literally. Adding the Barcode Module to SPT accelerates and streamlines your document workflow. Add efficiency to high performance. Seat belts required.
Read complete specificationsIf you’re looking for ways to make work flow smoothly throughout, whether it be from one desk to another in the same office or from one retail store to HQ, the Drivve | Image Barcode Module is one of the more powerful instruments in the suite’s toolbox. Virtually nothing will help you keep it all together, locally or globally, than a two-dimensional bar code.
Bar codes make document routing happen without a thought. But they can be even more crucial to saving you money when you employ them at the center of such sensitive processes as remote verification or auditing or anything touching on questions of traceability. Used together with the other modules in the Drivve | Image suite — especially SPT, Coversheet Module or the SnapForm® Pilot — the Barcode Module fills a key position in your Digital Empire.
Bar code reading
Index and autoroute your scanned documents by using the content stored in highly efficient bar codes. Drivve | Image analyzes bar code values and extracts specific data. You can split bar code data based on separator characters, extract parts of a bar code, use several bar codes on one page and much more.
Type and position detection
The Barcode Module reads more than 20 industry-standard 1D and 2D bar codes and detects a bar code anywhere in an image. You can also specify a bar code location.
Recognition confidence level
Sometimes a bar code isn’t easy to read: it’s blurry or smudged. The Barcode Module lets you configure a minimum confidence level, reports the confidence level of every bar code, and sends you a notification if a bar code is below the minimum.
Bar code orientations
The Barcode Module reads almost all bar code orientations: horizontal, vertical, and skewed 45º. And it lets you indicate a default orientation.
Separate documents with bar codes
Separate your documents with a bar code and you’ll get separate files at the computer.

Database Connector (for SPT) Plug in and pull ahead
With Drivve | Image’s far-reaching connectivity, your scanner or multifunctional device can get plugged into 98% of all databases in the known universe.
Read complete specificationsAs you’ve seen, SPT can work wonders with document processing all on its own. But nothing compares to what happens when you plug the Database Connector into the equation — yet another dimension is discovered. It’s not just a matter of generating scan packages that are pushed to your network. Nor is it a question of relying on end users to input vital information by hand. The Drivve | Image Database Connector enables you to pull relevant info, decisively, from your already existing information infrastructure and apply it immediately to the task at hand.
What are some of the benefits of this direct integration? speed: no more hunting around for that customer number; it’s already in place. accuracy: by using your database’s readily available info for indexing, human error all but disappears. autopopulation: you provide one piece of information by hand and an array of additional, directly tapped data appears magically in the search field interface — simply choose what you want to insert into a specific index or eForm field.
Connect to existing data sources
Drivve | Image provides an integrated information management solution, with powerful tools for connecting to your existing resources. The Database Connector seamlessly connects your scanner or multifunctional device with databases/filing structures, fax-group profiles for broadcasts, email lists, etc., which gives you full control of input to efficiently index and distribute your documents.
Full-text search
The intuitive Full-Text Search feature makes it easy to locate a name, an address, or any other value within your data source.

OCR Module (for SPT) Switch on your high beams
Use our visionary OCR engine to create readable and searchable PDF documents encrypted to ensure confidentiality.
Read complete specificationsOptical Character Recognition: the terms “digital office,” “office automation,” or even “document/content management” are absolutely meaningless without it. That’s because OCR doesn’t just make your scanned documents readable — it makes them intelligible, by a system that is greater than the sum of its parts: Your Company Name Here.
Whether you need OCR to convert your simple TIFF scans to searchable PDFs or to pull a contract or customer number from a scanned contract in order to use it as the Master Index that keeps all the other scans in the transaction together and retrievable — Drivve | Image’s OCR Module is quite exacting in its operation.
Create searchable PDF documents
Generate readable and searchable PDF documents, and generate PDF/A output format for the long-term archiving of your electronic documents. PDF encryption ensures that confidential information remains private.
Create editable documents in Microsoft Word or Excel
Need to generate docs that can be edited later with your preferred MS Office application? Store and send your scanned docs in such editable formats as Microsoft Word, Excel, RTF or Text.
Autorotate documents
Scanning in documents precisely isn’t always easy. Use OCR to autorotate all those imperfect scans.
Define zones and read text only within these zones
Use Drivve | Image Zonal OCR to process information within defined sections of your scanned document. Enhanced string manipulation even allows you to analyze functions on any type of data generated from OCR zones. Search for an invoice number within an OCR zone or search and replace certain characters in a zone. Zone OCR is a great way to automate the data entry associated with imaging tasks: it instantly processes gathered metadata to your third-party app or database.

SnapForm® Pilot You’re cleared for takeoff
Drivve has joined forces with SnapForm, one of the industry’s premiere eForm platforms. These are fully integrated eDocs with a serious amount of traction.
Read complete specificationsDrivve's mission is to help you achieve total automation of your digital office, so it’s not surprising that Drivve | Image's deep integration with the SnapForm eForm platform is an integral part of our strategy.
Create all the standardized electronic forms your business requires, from invoices and purchase orders to expense reports and vacation requests, and have your form-based workflows run more efficiently. Complete eForm fields right at the control panel; ensure consistency of data through the automatic calculation of those fields; and automatically distribute eForms to the appropriate person or department.
Automate workflow with SnapForm eForms
Imagine stepping up to your multifunctional device or networked scanner, calling up a SnapForm by name, and having one or several input fields appear on the screen of your input device. Use your own organization’s business logic within a coversheet to control data input, and choose from multiple input formats: text input, check box, drop-down lists, etc. As you begin to type in information, the rest of the fields begin to auto-populate with relevant data pulled from your database(s). Then, when you send or print the SnapForm, you’ll see that a lot of additional important information has been drawn into the SnapForm itself and is all contained within a two-dimensional bar code. Now the SnapForm can be converted into a PDF.
On the other side of the equation, this printable bar code, together with SnapForm's dexterous XML capability, has all the image-processing instructions, controls the routing of your doc and enables automated delivery of your precious data to ERP or other packages running on your back end.

Coversheet Module (for SPT & Barcode Module)Distributed scanning at its most versatile
Generate coversheets that automate your scanning workflow — and leverage your information infrastructure — whatever the make or model of your scanning device.
Read complete specificationsUsing SnapForm® eForm technology to generate attractive coversheets with 2D bar coding, the Coversheet Module expands the reach of the already powerful Drivve | Image suite by transforming any scanning device into a fully integrated capture workstation.
It's simple: adding a 2D bar code to a coversheet lets you “tell” the Drivve | Image engine, running server-side, exactly what you want to call your scans, what you want them to do, what file format they should be in ... even where or to whom you want them to go.
What if your scanner or multifunctional device doesn't even have a display? Let Drivve hook one into your network — we'll lead the way with a coversheet.
Automatically store scanned documents according to coversheet data
Use your own organization’s business logic within a coversheet to control data input, and choose from multiple input formats: text input, check box, drop-down lists, etc. Add all the image-processing instructions you need to your coversheet bar code and use it to control the routing of your doc.
Give It a Try
Here’s an example of how easy it is to create and fill in a coversheet with just a little instruction. A personalized coversheet will open immediately after you’ve entered a small amount of data and clicked the Send button.
1. First, fill in the Enter Email field by typing in the email address to which the scanned document should be sent (feel free to make up an email address for this practice example).
2. Second, fill in each Index Criteria field by defining one of the criteria that will be used to create the document name, or file index.
For example, the document name can be created by using the name of the person scanning the document, along with the date and a keyword. Enter Username, Date and Keyword. These three criteria will be retrieved within the coversheet. The document name, or file index, for this example could look like this: BruceWayne–01.18.2010–ExpenseReport2010.pdf
You can also index by Document Type, Reference Number, Currency and Username. This format works well for bills. The document name, or file index, for this example could look like this: Bill–K10923–Euro–AmeliaEarhart.pdf.
In each Index Criteria field, enter one of the criteria that will be used to create the document name and queried in the coversheet (fill in only as many fields as you need).
3. Third, hit the Send button. The personalized coversheet will soon open in a new window on your screen and will be ready to be completed and printed.
